I have three teenage girl cousins, ages 14, 16 & 18, that are into the whole punk rock – emo thing. For Christmas I got them all a gift card to Hot Topic and because I loath giving gift cards by themselves, I decided to make these wild child frames to go with them.
Mommy Knows Best
27 DecMy mom always fills my stocking with beauty goodies, but she took it to another level this year with a whole basket. I thought this was the cutest thing ever, and was full of girly products and necessities. (more…)
Trader Joe’s Holiday Haul
26 DecFirst and foremost: Happy Holidays and National Exchange-Your-Gift-Day (or simply made it up). Luckily I only had one gift worth exchanging– the Urban Decay 24/7 Shadow Pencil Stash I reviewed last week! My best friend knows me as well (if not better) than I know myself, so it was funny to have received it twice. Secondly: It feels good to be back to blogging! I missed sharing photos and doing beauty reviews, but really enjoyed the family and friend time. (more…)
Mini Christmas Tree Cupcakes
20 DecChristmas is one of my favorite holidays. I look forward to seeing all of the houses dressed up with glistening lights and holiday decorations. I love coming up with creative ways to wrap presents, listening to Christmas music, spending time with family and friends and of course the sweets!! One of my favorite and easiest recipes is the Mini Christmas Tree Cupcakes.
Candy Cane Swirl Martini
16 DecCall me a lush, but “holiday cheer” equals “booze” to me, at least since turning 21. Here’s a fun martini to sip at your holiday party via Whattodrink.com:
Candy Cane Swirl
- 1 oz. SKYY Infusions Raspberry
- 3 oz. Red Cranberry juice
- 0.5 oz. Grenadine
- 0.5 oz. Peppermint Schnapps
- Lemon Lime soda
Rim martini glass with crushed candy cane. Combine SKYY Vodka, Peppermint Schnapps, Cranberry Juice and Grenadine into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into martini glass. Top with Lemon Lime Soda and garnish with small peppermint candy cane.
“The Candy Cane Swirl is designed to add a simple, yet festive element to your larger holiday parties, utilizing familiar ingredients easily mixed in larger quantities.”
Put a Ring On It (or, Silver & Gold) Nails
14 Dec“Silver & Gold” won the poll, but I think i’ll call it “Put a Ring On It”. The nude base coat with all the (mostly) silver glitter and glitz makes me hear wedding bells, or at least a nagging girlfriend.
For Silver & Gold nails I decided to use a nude polish, Essie’s Brooch the Subject, with 2 different glitters on top: Essie Luxeffect in Set in Stones & Sephora by OPI Only Gold For Me. I love the look but the gold is a little over-powered by the silver, hence the new “name”. What do ya think?
Cuppa Good Cheer
14 DecWho doesn’t love a nice holiday cocktail? Be the hotesses with the mostess with a concoction like this:
Cuppa Good Cheer
- 1.5 oz. SKYY Infusions Cherry
- 0.5 oz. white creme de cacao
- 4 oz. Hot Cocoa
- 1 oz. Half ‘n Half
- Whipped Cream
- Maraschino Cherry
Combine all ingredients into a holiday mug and top with whipped cream, red sprinkles and a Maraschino Cherry. Omnomnomnom!
